Could Professional Co-Learning be the missing element to sustained and rapid professional learning in the content areas of Digital Technologies? We are in the midst of a digital revolution. The way we ‘do the work’ of teaching and learning in the CEDP looks different from what it did in 2000, 2010 and of course in 2020.  Schools were tasked with the challenge of re-imagining learning for students remotely access mode; this reimagining needed to address fundamentals such as ‘how’ to synchronously or asynchronously communicate with students before considering ‘what’ to communicate. Educators Professional Learning Networks (PLN) increased in intensity and frequency of new information. There was an information explosion across all mediums from email, twitter posts, facebook group posts, youtube videos, ‘how-to’ documents, slide decks, chats, zooms and websites among other examples - the flow of information increased but the capacity or bandwidth of the receiver did not.  I am part...

Approaches to collect, store, interpret and represent data The Kookaberry is a microcomputer made by Australian company Austem. This tool has been designed allow learners an opportunity to engage with digital technologies and science concepts - whilst this tool can be compared to a Rasberry Pi, Arduino or Micro:Bit, the small LED screen and unique design allows it to stand from the pack as a learning tool for the future. When I  first used the Kookaberry it was clear that  there are many application for both learning about digital systems, algorithm development and using the microcomputer as a tool to support scientific inquiry. Schools are striving to provide authentic learning experiences for students specifically around current social and environmental issues. My aim was to provide students with a hands on introduction to the Kookaberry to support the knowledge and skills required to collect, store, interpret and represent data. Exploring the many applic...
